Our Glass Opal™ is a resin-free synthetic opal that is 33 COE compatible, so it works with standard borosilicate without the compatibility issues that come with material intended for soft glass. Every batch is cut and crushed in house, so you get consistent grain and clean material instead of mixed scrap.
Glassblowers use crushed opal for encasing, inside-out work, frit blends, marbles, pendants, and accent work where you want play-of-color under clear. Because it is synthetic and resin-free, it holds its color and structure through the flame rather than burning out or clouding.
